Chicago River Advocates and Public Officials Take "The Big Jump" + Indoor Trampoline Park Coming Soon + New Neighborhood Restaurant Openings: Top 3 Stories In and Around West Town

The Chicago River is Getting Cleaner and More Swimmable Faster Than We Ever Thought Possible

On Saturday, August 25th 2018, Chicago River Advocates and Officials took a "Big Jump" into the South Branch of the Chicago River at Ping Tom Park to display the cleanliness of the river to the public. Through various filtering processes, the water that is being released back into the Chicago River is cleaner than the river water itself and it is now only a matter of time before the entire river is deemed "swimmable".

Through the valiant and consistent efforts of the Friends of the Chicago River and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District the Chicago River is becoming cleaner faster than we ever thought was possible. With so many new residential development projects in motion along the North Branch and South Branch of the Chicago River, it is time to reclaim the Chicago River for all of Chicago's residents to enjoy and put the river to its highest and best use.
